Use CPC Bidding For Testing New Campaigns
You want to use CPC for Facebook ads testing. A lot of the time people can’t decide because they don’t properly understand the benefits of each bidding strategy. A main benefit of CPC is you don’t pay for wasted traffic, you only pay for clicks which you qualify yourself from the ad you create. This allows you to save money, especially when you don’t know what CTR your ads will have.
Some of your ads will have high CTR and some won’t. By starting with CPC you get to identify those high CTR ads, while setting a max click price and not throwing any money away on impressions from your lower CTR ads. From here is where you should split test your top CTR ads with both CPC bidding and CPM bidding.

Create Campaigns With Tight Age Groups
To keep this simple, when you create ads with large age groups, you won’t receive equal amounts of traffic from all age groups. If your targeting 20-40 year olds, 70% of your traffic may come from 20-25 year olds, and only 30% from 26-40 year olds. So once you find your converting ads, tighten up your age groups to a gap of 4 years or smaller. Then compare your ROI among each age group, you’ll notice not all age groups profit, and you may find some trends.


Create Campaigns With Tight Keywords
As the Facebook ads system becomes more crowded, you need to tighten your targeting. Generally the tighter your groups, the better your targeting is, higher your CTR is, lower your clicks are, and higher your conversion rates are. There always exceptions depending on your niche, and the angle your taking with your campaign, but you have to decide are you a giant company with a very large market (ie: Microsoft), or are you a small company with a core interest target market
